The lovely Miss Tilly, a 9 yr old Whippet, presented to MHVC after having several vomits that morning.
She was known to love to scavenge around her property so it was no surprise that she had a bout of gastro!
What was unexpected though was she had evidence of early kidney disease on her blood work.
She was not showing any signs of kidney disease and as an older girl she had some monitoring bloods done just some 6 months earlier which were normal.
She has now started a special diet and has regular blood and urine checks.
Tilly is feeling as happy as ever and we now feel comfortable in the fact we are aware of her condition so that we can monitor and treat accordingly to avoid any nasty surprises.
Tillys story shows how important regular checks are in our older pets so that early diagnosis can treat or slow the progression of their disease.
