Chewie is a gorgeous 9-year-old Maltese X Shih Tzu.
Chewie presented to MHVC when she became very lame on one of her hind limbs one day.
She was diagnosed with two different orthopaedic conditions – a medial patellar luxation (also known as a dislocating kneecap) and a ruptured cruciate ligament in her knee.
This condition generally requires surgical correction and so Dr Chris and Dr Jaime teamed up to perform the operation.
She had both of her conditions corrected, to realign her knee and stabilise the joint.
Chewie was a delightful and very brave patient throughout her hospitalisation and recovery. We were all very happy to see her doing so much better since her surgery!
